In 1989 Mickey Rourke along with some well known acting greats,
Morgan Freeman, Forest Whitaker, Lance Henricksen, Ellen Barkin, Elizabeth McGovern and Scott Wilson, starred in Walter Hill's film adaptation of John Godey's
"The Three World's of Johnny Handsome". The main character Johnny, (portrayed by Rourke), is a monstrously deformed career criminal named John Sedley, aka Johnny Handsome,
who as the beneficiary of a prison reform program undergoes massive reconstructive surgery, giving him a new face and, theoretically, a new life.
He is torn between making a new life for himself and exacting revenge upon his enemies. Mickey Rourke's performance is magnificent.
He *"executes depth and the finely tuned sensitivity to convey the hopelessness of spirit and the continual confusion of a totally scarred and horribly deformed man."
If you are a fan of Mickey this movie is a must see.
